Maths Worksheet Maker (Variants A/B/C with Answers)
Times tables, column sums, division and fractions — seeded variants with answer keys.
How it works
Make maths worksheets for the classroom or home: times tables, column addition and subtraction with or without carrying, long multiplication, division with or without remainders, fractions, or a mix of facts. Up to six variants (A to F) give neighbours different problems of the same difficulty, each with its answer key.
- Each variant letter has its own seeded random stream (seed + letter), so variant B is always the same for the same seed and differs from A. Repeated problems are avoided within a variant.
- Column addition without carrying keeps every digit sum below 10; subtraction without borrowing keeps every digit of the first number at least as large as the one below it (and the result never negative). With regrouping allowed, problems that actually need it are preferred.
- Division problems are built backwards (divisor × quotient + remainder), so answers are whole numbers. Fraction answers are reduced with the greatest common divisor; subtraction never goes below zero.
Check that the exercise type fits the class level; the generator does not follow a particular curriculum.

How to use the Maths Worksheet Maker (Variants A/B/C with Answers)
Print maths worksheets with times tables, column sums, division and fractions in up to six seeded variants, each with its own answer key.
What it is for
This tool makes maths practice sheets for school or home: times tables, column addition and subtraction with or without carrying and borrowing, long multiplication, division with or without remainders, adding and subtracting fractions, or a mix of the four basic facts. Each sheet comes in up to six variants (A to F) — the same kind and difficulty of problems with different numbers — so neighbours in class cannot copy. Every variant gets its own answer-key page.
The output is a true-size PDF with the worksheets first and the answer keys after them, plus SVG and PNG of the first page and the problems with their answers as data.
Worked example
Times tables 2–10 in variants A–C (30 problems each, seed class-4b) give six pages: three sheets and three answer keys. Variant A starts with 7 × 4, 3 × 5 and 9 × 7; variant B has different problems from the same tables.
Three-digit subtraction with borrowing (24 problems, two variants, seed sub-3) prints column problems such as 838 − 497 = 341 and 900 − 359 = 541 — problems that actually need borrowing are preferred when it is allowed.
Adding fractions with like denominators up to twelfths (20 problems, seed frac-1) includes 1/3 + 2/3 = 1, 1/10 + 3/10 = 2/5 and 8/12 + 9/12 = 17/12: answers are always reduced.
Division with remainders up to a factor of 12 (seed div-r) gives answers like 91 ÷ 8 = 11 R 3 and 80 ÷ 9 = 8 R 8.
How to read the result
- variants lists each letter with its problems: question as text (fractions as 3/4) and answer. Remainders are written as "R".
- pages, puzzlePages and answerPages count the PDF pages; a long sheet continues on a second page.
- The table on the result page shows the first problems of variant A with their answers.
Tips and common mistakes
- Without carrying every digit sum stays below 10; without borrowing every digit of the top number is at least the one below it, and results are never negative.
- Times tables take a list like
2-10or3, 4, 7; factors run from 1 to the largest factor (10 or 12 for most curricula). - Fractions in the problems are not always in lowest terms (4/8 + 6/8); only the answers are reduced. Improper results stay as fractions (5/4).
- The same seed always gives the same variants. Keep the seed in your notes so you can reprint the answer key later.
- Check that the exercise fits your class: the generator does not follow a particular curriculum.
FAQ
Can pupils solve the sheet on screen?
Yes. Open the result in Printshop and press Play on screen…: type the answers (fractions as 3/4, remainders as 7 R 2) and press Check.
How many problems fit on a page?
It depends on the type: about 30 short facts, 24 column sums or 20 fraction problems on A4.
Can I change the title on the sheet?
Use Title on the page; the name and date line can be switched off.
